A Tendai Shikankai is a serene and contemplative gathering (kai) where practitioners come together to engage in the meditation practice of “shikan,” meaning “stopping and seeing.” In this gathering, participants dedicate themselves to quieting the mind and honing their focus (shi, Skt: shamatha), followed by cultivating deep insight (kan, Skt: vipashyana) into the nature of reality.
Our Shikankai is a day long meditation retreat at Ryusenji. In addition to periods of meditation, there are morning and afternoon formal services, and a mid-day meal. There is also an opportunity for an interview with the teacher about your practice.
Tickets for this event may be obtained on ourĀ Eventbrite page.
