Ohigan Retreat
Weekend retreat for the Ohigan holiday.
Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 19th to the 21st for our three-day Fall O-Higan holiday retreat.
Higan is a Japanese term for the other shore. When we put an “O” in front, it demonstrates veneration. So, this is a holiday when we venerate all things associated with that other shore. That is, we venerate our families, our ancestors, and the path to awakening.
We will be hosting a special three-day retreat in honor of O-Higan at Ryusenji. Our focus will be on The Six Paramitas and will include a Kujo Shakujo Service on Sunday. Weather permitting, we will be car pooling to the California Tendai Monastery to tidy up the cemetery grounds and to perform a special service for the hungry ghosts.
